Meet the Lycaon pictus – commonly known as the painted wolf, African wild dog and Cape hunting dog. The reality is that it is neither a wolf nor a dog but in a separate genus of it’s own – Lycaon. Taken in Mana Pools, Zimbabwe in 2016 it is one of my favourite photographs that catures the nobility of this great animal.
